Denver, CO—Opera Colorado will hold auditions on Monday, March 9, 2026 to cast a featured child extra role in its Spring 2026 production of Puccini’s Madama Butterfly. Auditions will take place at the Opera Colorado Opera Center (4121 S. Navajo St., Englewood).
About the Role
In the opera, the child is the son of a Japanese mother and an American father. Children of all backgrounds are welcome to audition; those who reflect this heritage are especially encouraged to apply.
We are seeking two children (ages 4-7) who can appear approximately 4-5 years old, of any gender.
What to Expect at Auditions
Children will be asked to:
Auditions will be filmed for review by stage director Mo Zhou.
Rehearsals & Performances

Early staging rehearsals: April 13-21, 2026 (afternoons/evenings)
Opera Colorado Opera Center, Englewood

Technical rehearsals, dress rehearsals & performances:
April 24-May 10, 2026
Ellie Caulkins Opera House, Denver Performing Arts Complex

Rehearsals and performances may run as late as 10:30 p.m.

A parent or guardian must accompany children at all times.
