A milestone worth celebrating—together.

Denver, CO—Opera Colorado invites audiences to celebrate a milestone for one of Denver’s most beloved cultural landmarks: the 20th anniversary of the Ellie Caulkins Opera House. On Friday, February 27, the company welcomes the community to gather in many different ways, from an elegant gala experience to an accessible concert-only option, all centered around a special performance by GRAMMY Award-winning baritone Will Liverman with pianist Elizabeth G. Hill.

Opera Colorado, founded in 1983, has called the Ellie Caulkins Opera House home for two decades. This anniversary honors the venue that has brought artists and audiences together through unforgettable performances, shared stories, and moments of connection.

“At this 20 year anniversary, we celebrate The Ellie for bringing us together in community and reminding us of the power of beauty. We're thrilled to mark this milestone with such an accomplished artist and dynamic performer as Will Liverman,” says Barbara Lynne Jamison, the Ellie Caulkins General Director & CEO.

Guests can choose from several ways to experience the evening. The Grand Gala includes an exquisite dinner, special performances, an auction, prime concert seating, and a lively after-party, all in support of Opera Colorado’s mission to bring people together through the art of opera. Concert tickets begin at $29, and attendees can also bundle their concert ticket with after-party access with music, food, and an open bar—a vibrant way to extend the evening.

The concert, beginning at 8:00 p.m., will open with a one-woman opera At the Statue of Venus performed by soprano Hallie Schmidt and pianist John Morefield. This short, one-act comedy by Jake Heggie and Terrence McNally was specifically commissioned to mark the opening of The Ellie 20 years ago.

Will Liverman will then take the stage with pianist Elizabeth Hill to perform a diverse compilation of operatic arias, art songs, spirituals, and more. Program highlights include:

Program highlights include:

"Largo al Factotum" from The Barber of Seville (Rossini)

"Down by the Riverside" (Traditional Spiritual)

Don Quichotte à Dulcinée (Ravel)

Old American Songs (Copland)

This evening of music offers a chance for everyone to support and celebrate one of the country's greatest artistic venues.
